Types of Membership

General Membership

General Membership in the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council is open to organizations which are signatories to collective bargaining agreements covering workers in Dubuque County, Iowa; JoDaviess County, Illinois, and/or Grant County, Wisconsin. For construction contractors and suppliers, and building trade unions, membership in the Council also includes membership in the Alliance for Construction Excellence.

Basic membership fees for 2024 are:

  • $225 for organizations with fewer than 100 employees or members;

  • $375 for organizations with 100 to 249 employees or members;

  • $600 for organizations with 250 or more employees or members.

Each general member organization designates one "official representative" to the Council to receive Council mailings, serve as contact person and act as the organization's voice. An organization may list multiple persons to receive newsletters, as well as notices of programs and events. Such persons may serve on committees of the Council. Official representatives are eligible to serve on the Council's Board of Directors.

Associate Membership

Associate Membership in the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council is open to individuals and organizations which are not parties to collective bargaining agreements but which support the mission of the Labor-Management Council.

The associate membership fee is:

  • $150 for individuals;

  • $275 for organizations.

Associate members receive general Council mailings, newsletters and brochures, and may attend Council programs at membership registration rates. Associate member organizations designate an "official representative" to the Council. These representatives and individuals may serve on committees of the Council. An organization may designate multiple persons to receive mailings or serve on committees.

Organizations or individuals which desire to be involved but can't afford the membership fees may request a reduction or waiver of fees, which will be considered favorably by the board of directors.
