High School Skilled Trades Fair

In 2017, the Alliance for Construction Expo began hosting a High School Construction Expo at Portzen Construction. In 2025, the format was changed to include all of the skilled trades. The Fair is open to all high school students that have an interest in the skilled trades. Schools from Dubuque, Jo Daviess, Grant, Jackson, Delaware and Clayton Counties are all invited to attend the event which is held in April. Students have the opportunity to learn about trades such as electricians, ironworkers, plumbers and pipefitters, carpenters, glaziers, linemen, welding, operating engineers and more. The event gives the students information about the trade and a contact at the apprenticeship program to learn even more about the specific trade.
